When I try to open the trunk, I hear a relay click sound from the CA module, but nothing happens. Has anyone experienced this problem or can guide me?
nobody had this problem before

Thanks to dumitru who helped me to register my car's CA ($322) and purchasing the key abroad as I was failed to have the key gotten in my country through the dealer - actually I do not know the reason..

In addition I wanted to share my experience for everyone in this forum is that I was able to have all four doors CA activated. The front ones were from E9x(or E70/E71) and the rear ones were from E70/E71 as the CAS-BUS ID is allocated individually and should not be the same.

CA module (PGS) I used was E9x PGS as just keeping the normal configuration for E9x series. No special coding is necessary and just do the default setting by coding tool. (actually there is a rear doors CA activation parameter in the coding script but it was not necessary to be set activated at this point of time)

Each individual door do the Lock/Unlock for all doors if you set to "all doors" on CIC.

Hi Sono,

I have sent PM however I may leave reply in case if you miss it or someone may help me with this.

I own 2010 E92 M3 and located in South Korea. I am now planning to retrofitting the Comfort Access but discovered that radio frequency for my vehicle uses 315 LP Hhz which is somewhat different with the one being used in USA market.

I have seen you have succeed in retrofitting the CA into your E90 successfully which uses similar radio frequency of 315 LP and I was wondering If you could help me with it.

Did you replace diversity antenna which placed underneath of rear wind shield? Or just did it just work without changing any other components other than installing the passive go module and antennas relating to the CA.

it would be greatly appreciated if you could share your experiences!

Thank you!

Exclamation

hi

as discussed over the email, my advice is not to change anything and just get you original CA Key.

don t know what Low Power means in terms of usage, it might be that range will be limited but maybe people who are using LP CA keys can share more info

i send you email with print screen from ETK

CA KEY part# 66 12 9268486

it doesn t seem to be LP (Low Power)

only for the non CA key it s mentioned the LP (Low Power) note

Thanks for the update, dumitru.

Low Power means literally it has low power radio compare to normal 315mhz as certain Asian countries like South Korea and Japan has slight different radio regulation so the BMW made it for specific market for Korea and Japan. I was told by TOYNAM who did this retrofit, he ended up installed an aftermarket comfort access kit because of the frequency issue. I just wanted to make sure this CA key as specified from ETK would work perfectly work with the car being use 315lp mhz frequency.

Any comments from Korean or Japanese users are welcome!

i don t understand what freq issue he had. both keys work on the same freq, that is 315Mhz

I was told that they are not compatible.

below is what I found from Gemini. Please correct me if I am wrong.

1. Definition of 315LP (Low Power)
315LP stands for "315MHz Low Power." It is a specific RF (Radio Frequency) variant used by BMW for remote keyless entry and Comfort Access systems in regions with strict radio frequency regulations, such as South Korea and Japan.

- Power Output: As the name suggests, the signal strength is lower than the North American standard to comply with local laws (e.g., South Korea's Radio Waves Act).
- Modulation/Bandwidth: While the center frequency is 315MHz, the signal modulation and bandwidth are narrower compared to the standard version to prevent interference and meet "Low Power" device criteria.

2. Compatibility: 315LP vs. 315MHz
Technically, they are not compatible. You cannot pair a standard 315MHz key with a 315LP system (and vice versa) for the following reasons:

- Receiver Tuning: The Diversity Antenna and the CAS (Car Access System) module are hardware-tuned to specific signal profiles. A 315LP receiver is designed to filter for low-power, narrow-band signals and will likely reject or fail to "hear" a standard 315MHz signal correctly.
- Protocol Mismatch: Even if the frequency is identical, the data packets sent by a 315MHz key are often modulated differently than those sent by a 315LP key, causing the CAS module to ignore the command.

Hello,
I replied to your private message. sorry for the late reply.
315MHz LP has the different radio modulation method (called ASK instead of normal one called FSK according to my research) but as I mentioned in the message you do not need to care as long as you order the key through the official channel. The radio modulation type should match between the key and the diversity antenna.

from what i know, the diversity is not different, the only thing is to have it on the proper freq (like not installing an european one in a japanese car)

for sure the CAS with PGS and diversity can work with both keys (LP and normal) as long as the freq is the correct one

Note: of course talking about original CA keys released by BMW on your VIN
