T.Stevens - 07' 328i RWD 6MT Journal

I wanted to document my ownership for this car. It's a clean example and a cool optioned car. It's getting tougher to find clean e9x examples in 2026.

Vancouver Canada car its entire life which is nice because it didn't live in a salt climate, underside is very clean/ no rust.

Clean CarFax, Single owner before my purchase. I am second Owner.

Original paint on all body panels.

115,3xx KM's on it at time of purchase.

2007 BMW 328i Sedan

- Black Sapphire Metallic
- RWD
- 6 Speed Manual
- Xenon Headlights
- Black Sport Seats (Manual & Heated)

A few pictures I was first sent of the car.

A little background…

I’ve been fortunate enough to have owned a variety of what I consider fun cars. I had got another itch for a e90 328i and started looking. This is my 6th e9x chassis car and I always seem to circle back to them.

I currently had a 2002 WRX sedan that was heavily modified when I started looking for another e90. While I enjoyed certain things about the WRX, I quickly realized how over the car I was. It was too loud for everyday driving in the summer, too modified and I wanted something more tame, slow and quiet. I guess I’m getting old.

My search criteria for the 328 was as follows:

Had to be 6 speed manual
Single hump dash/ no I-drive
Had to be a sedan
Had to have less than 140,000kms
Couldn’t have tan interior.

Everything else options wise I was fine with / whatever configuration I could find. I knew I could change anything on it to make it what I wanted in the end.

Turned out to be a pretty hard car to find. Expanded my search from just Ontario to Canada wide pretty quickly.

Ended up stumbling on this car but it was the other side of the country in Vancouver. I inquired about it through facebook marketplace and asked if I could call and ask some questions if the car was still available. This was November 10th, 2025.

Talked to the owner, he was great. Sounded very trustworthy and ultimately that made this process work. He had told me that he had only owned it less than 6months. He was an owner/ operator of a small dealership and the car was traded in on a vehicle he had by the original owner. It was bought and purchased new in Vancouver at the The BMW Store and remained there its entire life. I was thrilled because that meant it likely hadn’t seen salt/ was not a rusty example. The seller mentioned that he really enjoyed the car and driving it around but it didn’t make sense to keep for himself.

After a few more conversations and pictures I was ready to purchase the car pending a ppi. I was buying it sight unseen so ppi was critical. He dropped the car off for a ppi at RPI on November 16th,2025. RPI came highly referred by one of my close friends who has dealt with them before. RPI was great and the ppi got done. Nothing major was found other than the oil pan gasket was leaking (no surprise there!).

So after negotiating with the owner we agreed on a price. I then figured out having the vehicle shipped from Vancouver to Ontario. After shipping was paid for I purchased the car. Then the slowest 4 weeks of my life started waiting for the car to get here by train. The car was dropped off at the train yard by the seller in Delta BC on November 25th 2026.

The car arrived December 17, 2025 at the train shipping yard in Vaughn On. I went that day and picked it up, put some gas in it and drove it back home to the garage.

Well Shit! You learn something new everyday.

I thought that shadowline trim was black trim on the exterior of BMW's. Door belt moldings and roof pillar trims in black. As opposed to the standard trim that is "chrome" finish.

I'm now curious what does your shadow line trim option look like?

I dont have any close up picture, but it's a brillant black with a glossy finish.

The matte black I dont know what it's called.

I own 3x shadow and 1x matte black, and imo the matte looks better. Shadow line is a water spot magnet. And on my f25 the color starting to shift. Where my matte is still look new.

After doing some digging, It seems that my car has standard trim for Canadian market cars. Makes sense as its fairly "base". Searching online tells me that Canadian market cars have satin black trim as standard trim. Chrome trim was an upgraded option choice / also available through certain packages.

I thought Shadow line trim package was Satin black or Gloss black. However from what I read... Gloss black trim was available as an option on cars built for USA. My old 08 e90 m3 that was sold new in Florida had gloss black shadow line trim. Can't confirm if USA e9x m3's all had gloss black trim though or not.

My brothers current 08 e90 m3 that was sold new in Canada has satin black trim factory. It seems that Canada e9x m3's only could be optioned with satin black exterior trim.

Again, Not sure if I'm correct as there always is someone who knows more and I'm certainly not an expert. Just sharing what I found.

PS your e91 turbo rocks!!

Finally got the car home and in the garage. Around late December, I got started on a few things.

Installed my Dinan Short shifter.

Removed the steering wheel interior trim and refinished that

Removed the drivers front seat, had my upholsterer fix the worn/ cracked upper and lower bolsters.

Mid January,

I purchased a e82 135i stock rear muffler section. I had stumbled upon thread on here with a modified stock 135i rear muffler section that sounded great on a e90 n51/n52. It shaved some weight from the factory stock rear muffler and seemed to be easy to retrofit. So I decided to do that.

I cut open the muffler and modified how it was described on the other thread.

The center section of the muffler I cut open. Inside that section is two pipes. I welded up the three large round holes on the one pipe and half of the smaller perforated holes on the other pipe. Then welded it back up.

My new wheels showed up. More on those later.

I had booked the car in for replacing the Oil pan gasket. It was leaking pretty bad when I had the car PPI’d in Vancouver. Common issue and what bmw doesn’t have an oil leak right?

I took the front bumper cover off, fixed any imperfections and shave the front license plate bracket holes. Primed and refinished the bumper.

While I was at it I smoothed, primed and painted the front license plate bracket bodycolor as well.... Incase I ever need it (Ontario front plate laws). I always liked how the E9x M3's had body colored plate brackets from factory.

I removed the front hood moldings, took them apart, Sanded them, primed them and refinished those bodycolor.

The headlights and fog lights were looking faded. So I sanded those and clear coated them.
