It Finally Happened: MT RWD E91!!!!

I've been hoping to get MT E91 for a solid six years now, and I can now sit back and contemplate the fruits of my labor: A 2007 328i E91 with MT, RWD, sport package, single hump, and heated seats. Purchased from a second owner enthusiast that put mostly freeway miles on it! It popped up on the E91s For Sale thread Sunday morning and I was freaked out that I got to it too late and it was already sold. But no such problem. I PM'ed E91Lars who got back to me and we arranged a late afternoon meeting time. Drove over and had a great talk with a guy who knows what he had, but needed to move on. High-ish mileage at 167k, but as mentioned, freeway miles and well maintained. The faults were well documented, and none seem insurmountable. DME glitch being one of them, so that'll be a ticket that needs punching. Everything else is basic BMW stuff like OFHG, water pump, crank position sensor... plus suspension refresh, rotors, and some cosmetic stuff. Definitely will need IRX tint before the summer heat as well. I'll be getting it refurbished bit by bit as it needs it, starting with the OFHG/MMF/belt & tensioner.

Oh yeah, the best feature not mentioned in the posting: A fat one inch thick folder of records from the past 10 years!

Thanks for the support on this, my good people!!! I still can't really believe I have one of these after all this time!

I plan to work it up slowly and keep dailying the 330i for a while. My youngest miiiight inherit that great car, although she's driving my old Mazda3 right now and it's the perfect car for her going to school. But BMW>Mazda.

Unexpectedly quick procurement of a replacement headlight... it currently has a driver's side stepper motor out so Stradson picked this up today! Hopefully a plug and play fix!

I'm staying home feeling sick today, so had the time to add all the documented maintenance into a spreadsheet and came up with the cost of ownership over the last 10 years (Don't judge, it's how I have fun).

Based on PO's records:

$33,839 Total Expense
$3,384 Cost per year (10 year)
$2,285 Cost per year minus purchase
$4,584 Cost per year including $1200 fuel

Bonus from going through the records was finding that the OPG, motor and trans mounts were all done a few years ago!!!!

Whilst puttering around, I decided to engage the Euro-spec rear fog lights as I have several of the plunger pieces needed. Then I found it was already done!!! Love the DIY hack there!

Finally, I addressed the most important maintenance item, which coincidentally adds an additional 42 horsepower.:

How many are totaled is the pertinent question... :-(

5/6 RWD
2/6 Manual
6/6 N52
2/6 Crossed the Rainbow Bridge

1st AT AWD wagon lasted one week before a new driver in the household totaled it /sigh
2nd wagon was AT RWD and was going strong before a veteran driver in the house totaled it /sigh
3rd wagon is AT RWD and living it's best life in Santa Cruz. Literally being used as intended: Commutes/Travel/Camping/Cargo hauling.
4th wagon is MT RWD and getting a glow up in my driveway!
Then my MT RWD 330i and Stradson's MT RWD 328i sedans.

I'm a N52 lifer, and VERY much want to MT everything! I was kinda' looking at this X3 before the current E91 came into my life!

I’m sorry about the previous totaled E9X but the 6/6 N52 is fantastic. I would have thought at least a couple of them would have been N51 since you are out in California
