Overcooling issue

I have an 08 328i n52, I’ve owned it for about two months, heat in the car was great and car ran great till about a week ago, Using the hidden menu 7 I noticed coolant temperature couldn’t get over 50-55 °C now it has been below 30°F(0°C) to 0°f(-17°C) lately. I have had poor heat in the car since, So I wen’t ahead and got a new Malhe Thermostat last friday. Installed it, did the bleed procedure a few times, double checked the connector was plugged in all the way. I still am not getting much coolant temperature unless I turn the cabin heat completely off. It then climbs to +80°C. As soon as I try to turn on the heat for the cabin. It drops the coolant temperature drastically and it doesnt recover. I just get less and less heat from the vents. I would expect my thermostat to be working since the car does get warm on its own without the cabin heat on? I would prefer to not keep throwing parts at it.

No codes, Just went for a drive on my lunch break, Car will warmed up to about 70C set the heat in thecar to about 70F, car held the coolant temperature around 65F after that. It was only a short drive less then 20 minutes, most of my driving is less then 10 miles. Wondering if I Just don’t drive far enough for it to get warmer.

That absolutely could be it as it sounds like you live in a frozen tundra.

Don’t be shy, it certainly is in the winter. I remember waiting for the school bus with -20 windchill as a kid.

Now where I live in the southeast, school gets canceled if it’s in the 20s because kids don’t have jackets. 😂

here in easten europe we had such winters for 3 months 20 years ago
now we have every 5 years such a cold winter
so i drove few days ago my N52 with warm cabin and oil temp around 100C
everything depends on timely service using quality parts and processes and tools from BMW TIS
