Oxford Green vs Petrol Mica vs British Racing Green X5 M60i
I’m about to order the most expensive car of my life, and I need advice from total strangers on the most subjective of all features: color.
After much test driving and research, I’ve decided to buy a 2026 BMW X5 M60i. This vehicle seems to provide the perfect blend of utility, performance, and style for me and my family. This is also a special treat for myself for my 40th birthday. I’m going all out with the order, getting every option that I would want, including spoiling myself with totally unnecessary perks like alcantara headliner and individual color. But I’m horribly torn about color, and it’s very hard to judge some of the individual colors without ever seeing them in the metal. So I’m turning to the wisdom of this forum. I think I’ve narrowed it down to the following three options (all with the beautiful tartufo leather which I am obsessed with). Oxford Green II Metallic British Racing Green Petrol Mica Metallic I know it is totally subjective but what do you all think? I want to stand out to some extent, but not TOO much. I want it to be classy and beautiful and not overly loud, but also interesting and different. Mixed messages, I know. Any thoughts, advice, or opinions welcome, especially from folks who have seen these in person. Here are some photos of each, for whatever that is worth: |

Good luck deciding.
Colours mean different things for different folks. My order: 1) Mica most understated but with nice pop in the sun 2) Oxford a bit bright on such a big car 3) BRG reminds me of e36 M3 GT |

Thanks for the input! I think I’m going to go with Oxford Green. The green seems to have a more timeless classic look than the mica. As between BRG and Oxford, I like the fact that the Oxford has a distinguished history with BMW in particular (known for the E46 M3 originally I believe) whereas BRG is moreso associated with race cars generally and British ones in particular as the name conveys (Aston Martin especially). I like paying homage to the BMW lineage with the classic Oxford Green on Tartufo combination. Also it was chosen specially for the Jahre special edition so that’s another bit of bmw trivia that the color alludes to. So Oxford green it is….until I change my mind again after fiddling around with the individual color tool for a while. Thanks again!
