Bought some BMW Individual style 551i 20" rims from an F15.

275s in the front and 315s in the rear. Maybe a little too much poking out in the rear but looks great I think.

The X5 got a good clean today. Really happy with the new wheels.

Bought 2013 BMW X5 M-Sport 35i about a month ago. Changed front and rear diff fluid, trans fluid and filter, and transfer case fluid.

This weekend, I changed the coils and plugs and installed a new valve cover.

Looks like a great place to post this:

Swapped the plugs out at 79,000. Meant to do it earlier, but didn't have the time/courage to tackle it. Fairly straightforward job, just a lot of extra things to do to get access to numbers five and six. Followed this video tutorial which does a great job walking through the process:

Teardown:

Proof of getting all six out:

Three hours later:

Took me a while as it was getting hot and the sun was on me. Otherwise probably could be done in a little over an hour. Just commit to taking off the cowl pieces around the microfilter. Easy to do, and I can't imagine this job without doing that. I bought these two tools from Bezos' and they worked well: 14mm spark plug socket & installation tool.

My front pads were worn down to 4mm and the rotors had huge lips. I can change brake pads in probably an hour, easy-peasy. In fact I changed some on our F10 this morning! But rotors always seem to give ma hard time. These in particular would NOT budge at all. Totally frozen on in place, and this was a low mileage SoCal vehicle. And yes I removed the set screws!

My local Euro garage wouldn't do it with customer supplied parts (Ate + Akebono), so had to take it over to my local tire shop which didn't bat an eye at using my parts. Happy to give them my money, and they've always treated me well!

Well, after chasing codes for awhile, mainly the good ole 310B and 2D2F, finally was losing power and starting to get smoke, and it got bad fast, blown turbo....

Ordered most of the parts I needed, and was busy with other stuff so it sat for ages, but finally getting her torn down, and I knew there were oil leaks down in the return stand and lines, and this is what I found, 155K miles on her...

R/R a leaky Nissens radiator I installed about 4 years ago. Fcp warranty saved me about $130 (in store credit refund). Cost $70 to ship the old unit back.

Yeah, that shipping back, especially from West Coast kills a lot of the incentive :-/

I have the same 310B code and a slight smell of burning oil. I assume I'm headed in the same path as you. Keep us updated on how you repair the turbo and accessories

I've been tempted to do that, but wondering how it looked. Thanks for posting!

Sure thing! For $19 can’t complain too much. Fit is decent enough. We’ll see how long they stay clear LOL.

Ohhhh, good point on the color stability.

I have gray ones on our other cars, and love them, but that would look not so good on a white e70!

I've looked at the IND body-colored ones, but just can't quite justify the coin.

I figured if they start to yellow over time I can just wrap them or paint them myself. If you have an LKQ or similar near you, they will mix up a single stage spray can of your paint code.

Alternatively, I know there’s a seller on Amazon that has color matched vinyl for a more budget friendly solution! My brother wrapped his on his space gray e70 and they looked spot on. Can’t recall who the seller is but I know they’re out there.

I like your thinking!
Didn't know about LKQ mixing paint... I'm there at least once a month!

Three huge fires in SoCal, and I'm smack-dab in the middle of them! Triangulation!!!
The ash & soot has stopped, so I have been trying to clean the cars off. It's the E70's turn today! After a quick wash down I put some gummipflege on all the seals and white lithium grease on the hinges. Decent evening activity!

Sunday morning wash. Hopefully can start working on a paint correction next weekend. We’ll see if I can get my garage cleaned up enough.
