Anyone have an update? How did you make out on this?
Have a n55 with only 60,000km throwing similar faults and this same noise. trying to figure out what on earth to do. |

Yes mine runs OK. Little rough idle. Not quite hitting boost targets. But runs and drives. Only 60,000km on it
. - DME shows this active code, but no engine light on dash 2DD6 - Valvetronic servomotor, position sensors: Short circuit or line disconnection (line disconnection). Has this noise when u locking |

Your servo motor plug should be between your 2nd and 3rd ignition coil. Check where that wire goes, unplug it, and see if it recreates the sound. Note because BMW decided to make everything out of plastic be careful with it because you might break the clips. There's no indefinite way of testing it unless you are good with electronics. Just see if unplugged, the sound still proceeds, and/or a different code pops out.

yes it makes sense since when the car is turned off the valvetronic is set to the lowest and won't start. for your car only have 60k km. i doughy it's the valvetronic shaft. Start with a new connector. and see if you can fix it.

Hey I'm having same issue with my bmw 335 2013 f30 n55...did you ever figure it out sliver 335? I replace my valvetronic servo motor and I tried to relearn with ista but keep getting a error and won't let me finish da relearn process

It's funny how so many weird things can happen to these cars when the battery gets weak...
I had this issue appear the day after fitting a new battery. The old battery had gotten to the point where it needed a jump start a few days prior. All it took was a relearn in ISTA+ to get the car back to normal. That was 10 days ago, so hopefully it stays that way. The car is high mileage (190km) and old (11yrs) by euro standards so it won't surprise me if the Valvetronic actuator does have issues down the track... |

try adapting the valvtronic motor. that was my culprit. use ista

Can a bad or dead battery damage the valvetronic sensor, particularly if car isn't driven too often?

Same exact issue here. I’m unable to run the relearn process via Ista and get this error code
134F01 Valvetronic, adjustment range: Master adaptation outside tolerances. I’ve replaced the ISM, replaced the valvetronic motor, replaced the eccentric shaft. What I’m noticing is that the valvetronic motor goes to max lift and basically gets stuck there and makes that strange grinding noise. It never goes back down for me. |

I'm having the same issue, sounds the same at least.
I have a 2014 435 an I stopped driving the car as much and one day while driving I got a cel for valvetronic disabled, had a rough idle but was drivable. there ended up being a blown fuse I found in the engine bay area, car ran fine for a week then same cel came back. fuse wasnt blown this time.(I never got the clicking noise btw) so I did my research and ended up replacing the valvetronic motor and ecentric shaft etc. before the first startup ended up hearing that click noise and still have that code 134f01 tried the valvetronic start up and it wont start due to that cel being present. of course I hooked up a power supply for ensure the 13+ volts. so Im starting to suspect its the DME. I am going to try to take the ecentric shaft of to reinstall to make sure everything is good since I'm more familiar but we'll see |

I’m still in the same spot after replacing the dme. Now I’m investigating updating the I-level on the dme. I’ve learned that the valvetronic system and vanos work together and if they are out of sync they will not work. I’m trying to reset the adaptation for the incremental wheel but getting this message in ISTA+.

I’m trying to now run upgrade I-level using Ista + version 4.39.20 with data package (PSdZ) F025-24-11-520 and getting this error message. Any help would be appreciated.
