Topped off coolant from whatever air the bleed procedures missed. Wasn't too low, less than 12oz if I had to guess.

328 has been doing great with its refreshed setup. I've been experimenting with a VW 1.8T PCV valve the last week. It bounces around 10rpm on cold start, I can't fully recall if it did that without the PCV. Will have to take it off again to verify.

With that being said, the most vacuum it should see is at idle or decel, and I still have vacuum at idle. Its lesser than without the PCV so it does seem to be working. Im mostly concerned if it becomes a restriction when vacuum is lesser (WOT- valvetronic) and if the blowby gasses after 245k miles exceed the volume the PCV can take before pressure goes positive.

I have a carb tuning device for my old motorcycles. I think I'll modify an old oil fill cap with a hose barb and see what results I get.

Note to self: The N52 should be 30mbar +/- 10%, but not more than 5mbar

Oh man, I can not wait to get around to this on my e93. I'm not certain but I think everything is original lol, Im currently at about 128k miles. Nothing feels sloppy, but there's a little scooting around at speed.

Very clever! Is this a workaround for a broken PCV valve diaphram? I had a VW Mk4 1.8T in a previous life so I am familiar with the "hockey puck" PCV valve, but never thought to use it on our cars!

I wish I could take credit! I saw it on another video of someone who documented their mag cover conversion on their Z4. The guy sold the car shortly after so there wasn't a lot of feedback on it; so still experimental to me. Did some research on the crankcase pressures the 1.8T vs N52. It appears to be within a close enough spec.

Not exactly a workaround for a failed one, more of a full replacement. The PCV style for both versions of the N52 are honestly horrible. Both are a pain to replace and expensive. 06 version lasts 10k miles, 07+ lasts longer but is either sketchy to replace or you're doing the valve cover. With this it's a fraction of the price AND easy to replace. It's nice too because its already a 90° elbow, which is pretty much mandatory if you're making your own piping.

I'm using a cheap $15 URO one to try it out, whenever it fails (if crankcase pressure test is successful) I'll probably get an OE one

Fitted the LCI bonnet and bumper today. My god, does the E91 have the worst idea about bumper clips… Both E39 and E86 are dead easy to remove. While not hard, it’s mostly a fiddly job in the arches on the wagon…

Still…

Looks good!
Anyone here can point me to removing the headlights? Removed the top two bolts with bumper off, the one on the side near the arch and the two on the plastic bracket close to the center, but no joy. What am I missing?

Yeah Im not a fan of how the bumpers are fastened either. That does look good! Your car makes the stock LCI bumper look good.

The headlights bolt onto a bracket, and the bracket (and headlight) bolts onto the car. The front bumper needs to be off to do so. Bunch of YouTube tutorials for it! Years ago I think I used JD Cars walkthrough.

The worst. The only things stopping me from switching out my headlights on the 328 so I can rebuild the stock ones.
