7-Speed DSG-style trany for the X6??
An article was posted on Autoblog.com (with a link -below- to the original article) about BMW using a seven-speed double-clutch gearbox on the new M3. The gearbox is made by Getrag and called 'M DCT'.
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...aspx?AR=225812 Personally, I think this would be an excellent tranny for the X6, especially when matched to the 4.4 twin-turbo V8 (N64B44O1) engine. And don't forget the steering wheel paddles too..! Has anyone heard speculation on the transmission for the X6?? IF NOT - I say we start the 'wish list' right here!!! |

I heard the same as well. it makes perfect sense to utilize the fantastic torque curve from the N64 engine.
I also heard that the torque bandwidth is going to be wider than the N54 engine. |

since i had the DCT M3 before the x6m , i would think the speed m gear box is good enough for the power we get out of the big 8 , and yes the dct shifts way faster and responsive but with the puch we get would hurt our necks, i only wish the M6 speed gear box would shift abit faster thats all but really dont think its a good idea to go with the DCT , maybe u have to drive one to see what i ment by it response too quick.
unless it gives a huge amount of gas mileage saving on the higher number of gears , imo when i sign a the dotted line i dont really care about 18L+ /100kms anymore.
