There is a stereo sub forum here where a lot of the following links came from .
Be sure you know if you have 676 Hi Fi system = easy to upgrade 6 channel system or
a 677 or 688 Hk system hard to upgrade because of the Fiberoptic Interface between
the Head Unit and Amp and the number of speakers and channels.

If you have the Logic 7 aka HK system(option 677 or 688) it is pain to change it because of the Fiber optic Connection between the Head Unit and Amp .
The Most Bus system (Fiberoptic system) is not compatible with aftermarket Amps. Also you are dealing with 9 speaker locations and 9 channels . BMW calls there system 13 or 11 speakers because they count tweeters as speakers. But there are 9 channels.

To overcome the Fiberoptic output of the Head Unit you can reprogram it to Hi Fi which has a standard analog head unit output that is a plus minus 5 volt signal. Then add lines to your aftermarket amp for the Analog Inputs.

The Match up BMW system is designed for Hi Fi replacement they even have harnesses that plug into that system .
But you have to know you have 676 and not the HK 677 or 688 system mentioned above.

IN the case of the 676 sytem the Match system is way above that when coupled with good speakers. Also better than the HK 677 or 688 system when matched .

There are also several other Match system now on the Audio Tech Fisher Site designed to work with the 676 system with more or better output and better DSP.

Technicpnp.com has a harness for the 677 or 688 system if you wish to rip it out and reprogram the Head Unit to output Analog signals.
