Continuous turn signal when car is off
I am glad to be part of the family. I have purchased my first BMW. It's a 2006 325i e90, n54. Got a great deal on the car as it needed some love and care. Immediately replaced the oil filler cap to stop a major oil leak and replaced plugs and coils with high performance parts and the car is super strong at 239,600 miles! Now I'm narrowing down the little things and I'm having a few problems with lighting. Mainly in the headlight area. Upon replacing all of the bulbs in the front I noticed that I have a continuous turn signal lamp even when the car is off and the socket is all charred so at this time I have the bulb removed. Also when I turn on the head lights my left head lamp has a delay upon lighting but after toggling the switch left to right a few times it illuminates and I'm getting a chime with a d shaped headlamp warning symbol on the dash along with a service symbol with the car on a lift. Not the circle lamp warning. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks fam

If you can get a proper BMW diagnostics tool then you can scan for specific fault codes and really narrow it down, definitely worth the investment if you want to keep these classics on the road without spending too much. I have no experience personally but lots of forum members here swear by ProTool, it's an adapter and an app on your phone. Also the 325i has the N52 not the N54. Where do you live? That's about the mileage my old 325i has on it now, no idea where that car ended up. |

Hmm, this sounds like a faulty FRM module. I have not experienced this but there are a bunch of reports of these things going bad, seemingly after disconnecting or reconnecting the battery.
Might be wiring related like a loose or corroded connector, start at the headlight itself and remove the main connector to inspect. If you're interested in a FRM replacement I think I still have my original module from my 325i, I had to replace it when I upgraded to xenon headlights. You can have it for free, but would likely need to be coded for your car for a proper replacement. |

That would be fantastic. I already know my right turn signal socket is charred so I'm going to order oem from FCP Monday and am going to go ahead and replace the headlamp socket as well to narrow down the issue. If the problem persists I'll def take you up on the offer. I'll be in touch. Thanks Fam!!! I'm totally in love with this car.
