So I e hit a wiring snag

So I have a base e92 pre LCI, the front seats are semi powered in that the height and backrest are electrical but the fore and aft and tilt are mechanical

So that said I managed to score a pair of unmarked front m sport seats from a 135i e82, fully electric, they have an electronics box under each seat whereas mine don’t.

They were removed by the previous owner to fit high back F model seats, but he needed to take the seat connector off, so I’m left needing to wire my seat connector

None of this is beyond my skills, IF I had a wiring diagram

That said if I can’t make them work that’s ok I’ll simply gut them and use the seat back rest and base on my frames

If you got this far and can shed any light it would be much appreciated

Oh the e82 is also a pre LCI

Thanks

I'm NOT familiar with ECE 135i or LCI dates. Attached are 5 ISTA ScreenPrints of Driver Seat Module wiring for 2009 135i.
There are also Seat Heating SSP's & Seat Adjustment SSP's along with Component Location & Connector Views,
& PIB/Pinouts for 6 different connectors, Right Seat & Left Seat.

I would suggest reviewing the attached for Right/Driver seat, to determine if that is correct for your donor seats, & if so,
ask for any other diagrams or info (such as Lines/wire Identification).

Thanks,

Unfortunately my car does not have K-CAN connection at the seat connector and while I know it’s possible to run it from the fuse panel behind the glove box, I chosen to go a slightly different direction

Hopefully it works out and I can report back my success

Thanks again

You have to add the Can connections in.

I had some fun figuring out back when I retrofitted lumbar into my 128i that the lumbar pump has a seperate power feed for some reason. I just jumpered that to the main power and called it good. Not like I can run the lumbar pump and move the seat at the same time sans two hands on one arm. Germans...

Also, how VW of BMW to offer a paritally powered seat. My '17 GTI had power backrest but manual fore and aft. I'd much rather have it the other way around, as long as the backrest was an infinitely adjustable knob and not a lever with fixed positions.

Also you have to code the car if you want all the seat functions to work .

Thanks to all who contributed

Here is what I have done,I was not dissatisfied with the mechanical operation of the seats, of my existing seats just the comfort level, and the outer edge of the drivers seat back had taken a hammering over the years

Sooooo, I gutted these new seats and fitted the sport seat foam cushion and mounting plate to my seat frames, I then took the sport seat backs as an assembly and fitted then to my seat frame,, I hope that makes sense

What that gives me is semi auto sport seats, manual for and aft , and manual tilt adjustment, I have auto up and down and backrest position adjustment

To that I also have the under thigh support, and at 6 feet tall that’s a bonus,

So no need to code and no k-can so all the other options are not a available, and frankly I won’t miss them

I’ve left the lumbar and side cushions inflated as that were, and if I decide to do any more I’ll use a manual system to inflate or deflate, like Ricaro seats do

One thing that also became apparent was that the existing frames with the sport seat base cushions now have me able to sit lower in the car than before

Over all I’m totally satisfied with the out come

the lumbar support do not depend on kcan or big seat module at all, and can be enabled on any seat which have power, without issues

It's literally plug and play once you have the parts and the seat harness, other than a car (at least LCI cars, YMMV on the early ones) that didn't come with lumbar won't have the 12V+ feed for it in the car side of the seat harness. For some reason, Ze Germans decided that the wimpy little pump for the lumbar bags needed a seperate power feed from the honking big motors for moving a power seat. I just jumpered that on the seat side of the harness when I added lumbar to my 128i. Though thinking about, it DOES kinda makes sense to have the power feed serperate if they ever offered adjustable lumbar support as a stand-alone option from power seats. Which AFAIK, they never did in the US, but probably did elsewhere. To get it in the US, you needed to order the Premium Pkg, which always got you power seats. If that hadn't been necessary, my wagon would not have power seats. But I find BMW seats to be torture devices without it.

Also, the seat trims all have the location and mounts for the lumbar switch molded in, so you don't need new ones. You just need to cut the circle out with a Dremel or whatnot. I think I used a hole saw to get a start, then a Dremel to get to the final outline. The hardest part of the whole thing is actually getting the seat trims off, them SOBs are on there with some FIERCE clips. Will feel like they are going to break before they come off, but they will.

Ok, sounds good , looks like I have another project brewing,

Thanks to all

So I e just spent a few minutes and removed the lumbar and side bolster wiring from the under seat harness, simple

And easy to see the 12v connection, so yep I see now how I can get the factory function running

I’m very grateful for your input

Or am I, now I have to get the seats out AGAIN and do it

Hahahaha
