Problems after VCG change
2008 328i N51
Buddy of mine has this 2008 328i that ran fine but had a leaking VCG. He changed the gasket, did the valvetronic relearn and had no problems reassembling everything. Ran fine upon completion, but over a couple of weeks and maybe 100 miles it began to have a rough idle which progressed into the higher rpm ranges. Progressed further into stalling then even further to the point that it now won’t start. He has asked me to help diagnose. He says that it does not show any codes on his OBD scanner. He doesn’t have ISTA - which I plan to scan with thanks to my laptop. I also plan on smoke testing it as my gut is telling me there is a vacuum leak, but I have nothing other than my gut to tell me that. What else would you check? I was planning on checking fuel rail pressure to establish good fuel pump. What would correct rail pressure be? I’m in need of ideas so anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated!! |

New problem usually means you did something wrong. Nothing personal we all make mistakes. |
