Question X-Drive: Front axle/x-delete Question

Hi all,

2011 E92 335xi

My front axle is broken, causing hard vibrations, but I use X-Delete all year round anyway.

My plan is to delete the 2 front axles rather than replacing them, because I do not utilize them. What is the best way to do this without any issues, like ABS, DTC issues?

I've seen some posts about plugging the front differential, leaving the actual joint that connects to the hub/wheel bearing. I am not 100% sure what the best way to complete this is.

Would appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks

- xdelete : this will keep the safety , abs and tc
- front drive shaft delete (8 bolts)
- 2 cv axle delete
- you keep hub end of the cv for the abs sensor and keep the wheel-stud hub on the spindle

not sure if you really need to cap the front diff opening.

There's few DIY for this.

Or the full deal : front subframe swap from a rwd, TC, oil pan and coding.
People said it's better, but imo I didnt see a huge difference and I own both a rwd and awd with xdelete.

Also for you vibration, are your sure this is from the front axle? On a xdrive, it's typically the front drive shaft, and not to expensive to replace.
I suggest the buy the one where you can replace the u-joint. The OEM one, its not a serviceable part, and it fail at the u-joint.

I am thinking I can just drain the front diff so I don't have to cap it.

I want to just remove the axles and drive shaft (not the whole subframe route). I am sure it's my axles that are gone because all of the boots are torn and there is huge play in the driver's side one.

Is there a full DIY on this? I can't seem to find a comprehensive DIY where they keep the hub part.
