2A13 DMTL issue

After spending a full day replacing the timing belt and water pump on my other car (not a BMW), I went to drive my E90 and it illuminuated the SES light.

INPA shows the following error:

2A13 DMTL leak diagnosis pump, control
Short circuit to positive
P2402 Tank de-aeration system Leak diagnosis pump Control circuit - high
Voltage current measurement DMTL 4.98V
Voltage 12.90V

Coincidentally I don't hear the DMTL pump running after I shut my car off.

I found a handful of useful posts here to help diagnose the issue:

I'll be inspecting the wiring and the pump itself, but I'm looking for some more info if anyone has any experience. It looks like the frayed/broken wiring issue results in the P2400 DMTL Open Circuit error, which isn't the case for me. I'm seeing a "pump control circuit high" leading me to think it's an issue with the motor itself. One of the reputable online vendors that provides step by step instructions with photos even says in their writeup, "If you have a fault code for the DMTL pump current high, replace the DMTL pump with a new one."

UPDATE

I wanted to post an update to this issue, to share my experience.

While researching and diagnosing the issue, it seemed that a new DMTL pump was the most likely solution. However, before ordering a new pump, I wanted to inspect the wiring to rule out any issues there. The wiring looked fine. While I had the lower rear bumper undertray removed, I figured I would remove the charcoal canister and DMTL pump to possibly resolve another issue I was having.

Whenever filling my fuel tank, the gas pump handles would shut off prematurely around 3/4 full (didn't matter what gas station I was fueling at) and I read a few posts around here where some members suggested that the pellets in the charcoal canister were fused together basically creating a restriction in the canister, and that loosening them resolves the gas pump handle shutoff problem.

After lightly tapping the charcoal canister with a rubber mallet, I was able to loosen whatever media is inside.

I can't say whether that fixed anything yet since I haven't filled my tank up since then, however since doing this my SES light for the 2A13/P2402 code hasn't returned. Prior to doing this, I'd clear the SES light and then it would return by the end of the day after a few short trips.

I don't know if the tapping freed up a stuck motor in the DMTL pump (similiar to the old trick to get some extra life out of an old starter), or freed up some blockage or a stuck purge solenoid, but it seems to be working well for now.
