I am back! Kinda...

Howdy all, I might be getting back into the E93 game but the one i have an eye on is on the other coast of the US. Driving it back is not an option so will have to get it shipped. I will likely go thru Uship with a rate of $1600 (~2500 miles) including their service fee. This will be my first car i have had shipped and was wondering peoples experience with shipping? Or if you know a budget friendly carrier. Thanks.

I had my last E93 about 5 years ago, a 2012 335i, which develop a rod knock so had to rehome her. Got her at 60k and only drove her 20k before the knock. Swear i would never get a BMW again. It was stage 2 tuned DP, FMIC, all the maintenance stuff so cant blame BMW 100%. But the look of the E93 is something i cannot shake! Anyways so here i am asking for more.

I did get a 01 525i wagon post E93 which was a fun little car. It had a manual swap on BC coilovers. Got it for $2500 put 30k miles on it and clutch started slipping. Just sold it for 1k as is so no big loss. Was a cool looking car though. Anyways thats a little about me.

not seeing that car in person plus shipping it over, is always a risk.

Welcome back to the party! Hopefully she's in good condition and you can enjoy it a bit.

Did you ever figure out what caused the rod knock on your prior 2012?

Nah, i never tore into it. It had only had 78k on it but it was tuned heavy. No cat, meth hitting 19 psi. I wasnt data logging any knocks but doesn't mean there wasn't any when i wasn't looking. Thing was a beast and i drove it hard so definitely could of been user error.

This one is staying stock (one of the reasons i went so far to find a stock car) plus the IS is already tuned... Probably only gonna change the FMIC.

To close this out. I received the car. Bought it from Dream Motors in Jacksonville Florida, all over the phone, really nice people to work with. Shipping was 2450 miles and took 10 days from pickup to drop off.
I ended going thru Nexusautotransport instead of Uship because 1. Uship charges a ~150 fee for using their service and nexus doesn't and 2. Nexus was cheaper. Both companies are "brokers" which means they dont actually have any trucks but finds companies that do. Diesel Auto Express is the company thar actually did the shipping.
I would say there ETA from pickup was unrealistic. It was picked up on the 11th and had a delivery date on the 14th (knew that wasnt gonna happen). I never received any tracking or communication from Diesel Auto except from the initial ETA and the day of delivery from the driver. Nexus was good with updates if i called them, they would call the driver. Tracking could of been better but from reading some reviews it could of been worst.
The cost was $1450 even and car came undamaged so overall i am satisfied. It was actually cheaper to go directly thru Diesel Auto ($50) but they are not BBB listed and the broker is, so that was the deciding factor for that.
