Rad Fan will not turn on properly when idling, engine overheats

Hey all,

2008 e93 335i, no drivetrain modifications

Im having an issue right now where when I am idling the car it gives me a temp warning, I got the warning on two occasions and checked the rad fan both times. First time the rad fan kicked in and the warning disappeared, second time the rad fan did not kick in and i got an overheat warning.

Checked the fan fuse in the passenger glove box and it looks ok, bit of oxidation on the prongs though. Waterpump and thermo were replaced recently, and I am still getting engine temp warnings so I am thinking its not the sensors.

Could it be that the fan itself is going/gone? Going to test the fuse continuity to double check.

Any input would be wonderful

Checked the connectivity of the fuse, all good. Tried finding the fan relay in the engine fuse box in the engine bay. Could not find, does this year not have one? Ive found varying results online for their existence

Another thing I forgot to mention, there are no codes on the car when I use an OBD II reader, nor are there any dash lights besides the temp warning

will the fan run at all? Engine running, A/C on MAX? Start up ECM test?

Electric fan activation is based on inputs to the ECM:

-Radiator outlet temp
-Calculated catalytic converter temperature
-Vehicle speed
-Battery voltage
-Calculated refrigerate pressure
