Surfboard mounting setup on OEM Roof Rack?
Does anyone here have experience mounting a surfboard on the factory BMW roof bars? I'd like to see some setups before I pull the trigger on anything. Ideally I'd throw a board in the trunk with the rear seats down but a 7' board would be a squeeze. Thanks!! (e92 328xi)

Which roof bars do you have the open ones
Thule or Yakima has them . They are wider than the factory roof bars if you have a wide SUP or you want to put two boards side by side. In a Wagon you can take out the headrest on the passenger front seat and get the sear fairly flat and put in something around 8' 5" but you must ties it down so if you hit the break hard is doesn't fly forward. |

I would get dakine pads(that go around the crossbars) and some dakine or chinook straps the wide ones with padded buckles . If you have actual fiberglass board you must be carefull not to over torque them with the straps.
