Electrical Issue - BMW 328i E93 Hardtop Convertible
My 328i Hardtop Convertible started randomly blinking all dash lights at once, including hazard lights AND the windshield wipers start and will not turn off. All this is happening while driving at highway speed. If I put the battery on a charger for a few hours the issue seems to disappear for a few days, then it randomly starts again. The only thing that fixes the issue (temporarily) is charging that battery. But mind you the battery was never really discharged in the first place. *(See attached video and pictures of the issue)

1) If you have a Scan Tool that can display "Freeze Frame Data" or a Snapshot of System Conditions at moment a fault code was saved, see if FF data for one or more faults shows > 16.0 Volts. 2) Use "Hidden Menu 9.00" to display System Voltage as you drive: https://www.carsaddiction.com/articl...er-hidden-menu 3) Use a Multimeter (or plug-in display per link below) to measure voltage at the lighter socket or at J/S Terminals under hood, when "Light-show" begins on Instrument Cluster: https://www.amazon.com/Baideluo-Char...1zcF9tdGY&th=1 If Over-Voltage is confirmed, here is a reliable replacement for $42: https://www.autohausaz.com/catalog?v...age=1&sortby=r George |

Thank you @gbalthrop I did order the new voltage regulator (the brushes on the old one were indeed not exactly the same height which means uneven wear/contact) and installed it. However, the car is still having the same issue after replacing the voltage regulator. Is there anything else I'm missing here? Because I'm 95% sure that was the issue. The batter itself is almost brand new but has been affected by the voltage issue several times already so is there any way to tell if all the irregular voltage has permanently damaged my battery? because it currently shows the correct voltage when the car is off/on.

Have you done a load test on the Battery? It may have a dead cell. What type of battery is it? When it was replaced was it coded correctly. I'm thinking George's next question is what software are you using.
