Car: 2008 E92 335
I my rear quarter panel repaired at a body shop and now my instrument cluster fuse (Fuse 74) keeps blowing (instantly). I removed my PROcede just to rule that out and itÂ’s still happening. IÂ’ve searched the forums and others have had this problem when disconnecting the battery (which the body shop did) or after coding (I have not had any coding done). Some say to disconnect the battery for an hour and others say to put the fuse in while the battery is disconnected and then hook the battery back up. Both of those have been tried and itÂ’s still happening. I canÂ’t find a definitive solution. The body shop checked over everything they did looking for anything wrong like a pinched wire and found nothing. I believe the OBDII port is out because it's on that fuse. I haven't tried my Bavarian Technic cable yet because I don't have it with me. UPDATE: BT Tool doesn't work, so the port is dead. I have these codes (I read it with the PROcede before I removed it): 2DE4 2DE5 CD94 = Message (outdoor temperature) CD9F CDA8 = Message (cluster state) CDAE Does anyone know what those codes are because I can only find 4 of those Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks for your help! |

Do you have an additional device on the car.
Do you have an additional devices on the car.
That particular fuse usually blows when applying battery backup through the OBD port when changing the battery. Also is it the correct size fuse? |

Problem Solved! All I ended up doing was disconnecting the Instrument Cluster, letting it sit for a couple hours, and reconnected it. It fixed itself -- go figure! Thanks for the help!

Before you remove and unplug the cluster, check the fuses in the back of the glove box. If its blown, disconnect the battery and then replace the fuse. With all the warning lights tho it sounds like alternator should be tested.

I think it was my short 4 mile drive in 32 degree cold from home to Home Depot that did it. This car sure does not like the cold so I've been having it sit on a tender now. But if the fuses were blown, would I unplug them individually and assess each pin or just a no touch visual once I remove the glove box cover?

Ah the classic turn it off, leave it, turn it back on again. I had an old computer that I gave up trying to fix for a week. I let it collect dust for 6 months before I decided to give it another go. It started up like nothing was ever wrong with it.
