Unidentified small rubber piece fell out of engine bay while replacing coolant pump
I replaced the water pump, thermostat and Mickey Mouse flange on my 2011 E93 335i. I removed the radiator fan and intercooler to get better access, and dropped the sway bar and power steering hose bundle (as per the recommended procedure). Due to my car being the convertible I had two big underbody braces in the way that I loosened but not fully removed. I also removed the coolant hose on the driver side of the engine bay, the one that the overflow hose attaches to, in order to avoid it snagging on the radiator fan and potentially breaking off the barb the overflow hose attaches to (like I saw happened in one video).
Midway through the work this small rubber piece fell out of the bottom of the engine, probably in the vicinity of the water pump, thermostat or all the hoses. Anyone know what this is? The marking say ">EPDM-X+PP<" with a "9." and small circle with 4 prongs sticking out, kinda like this - "¤". It's a little under an inch in diameter and a little over half an inch in height. I'm guessing it sits on a round peg, sorta like the engine cover, but those have through-hole rubber grommets that don't look like this at all. |

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...er-13717588501 Part number 22 on the rear ignition coil cover, apparently there are 4 of them on that cover: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=11_4753 |

It looks like RealOEM links directly to FCP now... that's a great partnership IMO. |

RealOEM can fck off with the incessant popups to subscribe though. I have an ad blocker on my phone but it doesn’t seem to suppress the popups. $5 USD per month? No thanks.

Now that they have the corporate synergy, you'd think they would do away with the pop ups. Nope...

My thoughts exactly. I would imagine their existing ad revenue plus whatever benefit they’re deriving from providing links to FCP more than covers their costs. Maybe not though… And to be fair, I don’t see any of the ads, so I am freeloading haha…
