Hi all,

I have an LCI e91 with the updated Idrive, I have connect my phone to the Bluetooth and can take phones though the car, but I cannot play music through the car via Bluetooth. Just wondering if I’m just being an idiot and not doing something right or if there is a module I can unlock/buy to upgrade the car to have Bluetooth music.

you need to upgrade bluetooth module to combox if you car is manufactured before 2010 october

Everything is a pay for it option with BMW .
There is a stereo sub forum here where various solutions
are discussed OEM and non OEM.
Usually this involves using the AUX for and Input which cuts the fidelity of the
signal .

Combox with coding and the proper firmware for the I drive or MR12Volt.

If you have a USB and 3.5mm Aux-In port in your center console, you can use a Bluetooth receiver (see link) and play tunes through Aux setting. Plug it in, pair it and play. It's that simple.

I've had one for years in my pre-lci and the sound is great. I've compared my buddy's G30 Harmon Kardan w/ Carplay to my E90 Hi Fi w/ Bluetooth and IMHO these little gizmos actually sound better. And he agrees. YMMV
